My Experience at the LFS Conclave

I recently got an opportunity to attend the LFS Conclave 2018. It was a two day fair held by FAD International from where I also did my fashion styling course. I skipped day one which was on 4th of May (cuz of exams, ughhh) but I did attend day two which was on 5th of May. So basically they had discussion panels across various topics surrounding fashion. They had some of the best industry people on the panels like Gaurav Gupta, Falguni and Shane Peacock, Urvashi Kaur, Pernia Qureshi, Sanjana Batra, Brigitte Bae to name a few!

I, in this post will be sharing everything I learnt in the panel discussion.

The first panel was about Detail in Retail. They discussed all about the retail business in fashion. Key points to remember in this business is :
  • Focus on your product
  • Create a good quality product
  • Consumers will pay for a good product
  • Have an offline store to track your consumer behaviour
  • Connect with customer to know their preference
The next panel was about Luxury, an Evolving Landscape.
  • As a consumer do your research well before investing in a luxury product
  • Grey market exists!
  • As a luxury brand you need to adapt the culture of the country you have your outlet in.
  • As christmas windows work in the west, Diwali windows work in India
  • Many luxury brands have started having Diwali windows in India now
  • Making consumers feel important is extremely essential.
The next panel was one of the most helpful ones for me at this stage because it was a complete guide of being an influencer. It was called Digital Disruption.
  • Influencing has shifted from traditional influencing to digital influencing
  • But the core principles are same, just the medium has changed
  • You have to as real and transparent as you can be to have a genuine connect with your followers
  • Your offline and online life has to marry to be relatable
  • Content is important, not the numbers
  • Select brands that match your aesthetic
  • For example: A young fashion brand promoted by an old influencer might not create the required impact as there is no connect.
The conclave ended with a stunning sunset runway show by the design students at FAD International.
Key trends I noticed at the show:
  • Socks beneath sandals
  • Red and White Stripes
  • Flared Pants
  • Metallic
  • Tartan
  • 3D Floral
  • Pastel green and pink
Enjoy the pictures :)

Hope you found this helpful! Would love to know your thoughts on this!

Love,
Shreya.
